Memorial written by a friend:

St. Peter's College ROTC, Connecticut

David, it has been 40 years since we graduated that day in 1969. I remember you as a dedicated soldier who had a dedicated love for your country. Our life paths were different. Today my son was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. I can tell him I knew and served with soldiers like you. I am honored to have known you. 'We were soldiers once and young.'
